WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded a $200,000 competitive grant to Iowa State University through the Rural Cooperative Development Grant Program.
"These funds will help Iowa State work with people throughout the state to form and run successful cooperative businesses," Grassley said.
Iowa State University will use the money to help effectively serve rural areas and improve rural economic conditions through development, training, and applied research on cooperatives.
The Rural Cooperative Development Grant Program provides grants to help pay for technical assistance, research and informational materials to help rural residents form cooperative businesses or improve the operations of existing cooperatives.
