$30,000 to Cedar Rapids and Des Moines for Fine Arts

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the National Endowment for the Arts has awarded two matching competitive grants totaling $30,000 to the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre and the Des Moines Metro Opera.

The National Endowment for the Arts will distribute the funds as shown below.

•Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre will receive a $15,000 matching grant to support a production of Salome by Richard Strauss.
•Des Moines Metro Opera will receive a $15,000 matching grant to support the Opera Iowa Touring Educational Troupe.

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
