WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Labor awarded two grants totaling $399,875 to Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa and Goodwill Industries of the Heartland through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration program.
"These funds will give a hand up to our veterans who have fought bravely and selflessly for our country," Grassley said.
The funds from the U.S. Department of Labor will be distributed as shown below.
· Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa in Des Moines will receive $199,875.
· Goodwill Industries of the Heartland in Iowa City will receive $200,000.
The Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program helps expedite the reintegration of homeless veterans into the labor force by helping provide assistance such as emergency shelter, substance abuse counseling and treatment, job counseling and referrals, resume preparation, job development and placement, employment assistance, transportation, housing and clothing.
