I'd like to express my condolences to the family of Coach Thomas and also to the community of Parkersburg. I live in New Hartford, 10 miles east of Parkersburg. Southern Butler County is kind of a community all by itself. He was quite a well respected civic leader there besides being an outstanding coach. He was a real trophy for the community and for football generally. He was a successful coach with so many years of good teams, state championship teams, and having 4 players from such small community such as Parkersburg go onto the NFL, just spoke highly of Coach Thomas. He's a person that's going to be missed. Probably the best example of his involvement with community was the extent to which he led after the tornado a year ago. He was out there organizing and helping clean up immediately after the tornado hit in an effort to rebuild the community, particularly the school. We've all lost a friend. More importantly, his family is losing an outstanding member. The community of Parkersburg and the school are losing an outstanding leader.  It's a tremendous loss and a very sad thing to have happen today.
