Meeting with Nancy Sutley about EPA today

I met with Nancy Sutley, the Chair of the Council of Environmental Equality today.  I mentioned four issues I have with the EPA to her; fugitive dust, the impact of green house gas emission on livestock producers, indirect land use, and point source pollution permits for farmers.  People hear these things and honestly have to wonder what planet these bureaucrats at the EPA live on.  She seemed to understand the issues, but didn't really take a position on any of them.  Although she seemed to understand how unreasonable it was to require livestock producers to monitor greenhouse gas emissions from their livestock.  She also noted that dust is hard to control within your property lines while farming.  In the end, she indicated to me that it will be a long process for people to provide input before the EPA reaches any conclusions on those topics.  So keep sending EPA the message that what they are proposing is not based on sound science, much less reality.
